About

legal work

Bethany is a Forensic Canine Behaviourist with a BSc (Hons) in Canine Behaviour. She is a Senior Behaviourist for the UK's largest dog rescue and has a background in rehabilitation. She has specialist expertise in Bull Breeds.

Bethany has completed the Expert Witness Certificate through Cardiff University. She has undertaken specific training, through Bond Solon, in all aspects of Expert Witness work, including excellence in report writing, cross examination skills and criminal procedure rules. This allows her to appear on the National Register of University Certificated Expert Witnesses in addition to the UK Register of Expert Witnesses.

Following instruction from private clients, legal practices, welfare organisations, police or courts, Bethany offers an objective behavioural assessments and breed identification of dogs whose owners are facing prosecution under Section 1 (breed type) and Section 3(1) and (4) of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 and Section 2 of the Dogs Act 1871 (behaviour).

As a full time, qualified behaviourist, with over 15 years experience in dog behaviour, Bethany is able to offer full, objective Dog Behaviour Assessments, either in police kennels or at the owner’s home, in addition to Owner Assessments and Home Checks. She will review evidence, including medical reports, witness statements and photographs or video.

A detailed report will then be produced as a court ready document. Court appearances as required.

Based in Dorset, she routinely travels all over the UK to assess dogs, both in their own homes and in police kennels.
